2024-05-08 — FY25 School Budget

From: "Ottina.Kathleen <KOttina@whitman-ma.gov>" <KOttina@whitman-ma.go To: beth.stafford@whrsd.org; Jeffrey Bcc: jeffrey.szymaniak@whrsd.org Date: 2024-05-08 07:35 Subject: FY25 School Budget Good morning, Jeff and Beth, I see that you have a School Committee meeting scheduled tonight, but I do not see the FY25 budget on the agenda. As you both know, the Town of Whitman voted on Monday night, May 6, to fully fund its FY25 assessment of $19,135,687. The budget itself is still in limbo pending the results of the Hanson override on May 18. Should that override fail you will end up with a rejected budget, requiring reconsideration of the budget by the School Committee. I urge that you continue to advocate for the needs of the School District and recertify the budget and assessments you recommended and voted at your April 8, 2024, meeting. The process may take a while to resolve, but the Town of Whitman's actions should provide the light needed to guide all future actions of the School Committee and the Town of Hanson regarding the FY25 budget. Thank you for your continued advocacy for the children of Whitman and Hanson. Sincerely, Kathleen Ottina Whitman Finance Committee vice-chair and liaison to the WHRSD■ When writing or responding, please remember that the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has determined that email is a public record.
